Work with us
Howdens was established in 1995. Since then it has grown from nothing into a company with turnover over of nearly £890m, employing 6,300 staff in over 500 locations across the country. A winning formula that everyone connected with can call their own. A philosophy that can grow.
What we expect from you
We want to work with people who are both commercially minded and see the point of doing something well, rather than just doing it. We need bright people who are good at getting to the bottom of an issue, good at explaining things, good at listening. We enjoy working with people who respect others, and treat everyone as they'd like to be treated themselves.
In Howdens, we expect you to use your initiative, to enjoy challenges and to be excited about the idea of working in a place where you can make a real difference. You're part of a team, so everyone's involved - it's never down to someone else. We expect everyone to take personal responsibility for doing a good job, and keeping promises made to customers.

What you can expect from us
We believe in treating people fairly, with consideration for their needs and respect for their skills. We give thorough on the job training, and we offer a comprehensive pay and benefits package to everyone who works for us.
Across the country, our local Howdens depots employ knowledgeable sales people, CAD designers, product handlers, drivers and support staff, working closely together to serve the needs of our customer - the builder. In our depots, we run a bonus scheme that's based on an equal share of profit, so everyone has the same interests and everyone knows where they stand. Depot staff are employed locally. If you're fired up by the idea of helping us grow, but you don't know where you can find your nearest Howdens depot, talk to a local builder. Then come and start a conversation with us.
We also offer a very wide range of career opportunities for motivated people in our supply chain and management operations. We employ buyers, designers, accountants, property managers, IT specialists, credit controllers and support staff. If you have experience in one of these fields, or you're a graduate looking for a career that's both demanding and rewarding, find out more by clicking here.
